Tribute to a Colleague

When WTVQ's main anchor, John Lindgren, passed away from cancer, the station devoted its early evening newscasts on the day of his funeral to stories about his life.

Live from Churchill Downs

John reported live for WTVQ from the site of the Kentucky Derby, and did feature stories on many of its prominent figures, including this one on famed trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Sportscast

John tried to make sportscasts fun for viewers, whether they were sports fans or not. They often told him, "I don't like sports, but I like watching you."

Baseball Play-by-Play

WTVQ broadcast the first ever home game of the minor league Lexington Legends live, and John got to call play-by-play for a resounding win for the home team.

Football Play-by-Play

Covering local sports means that you sometimes players who go on to much bigger stages. This clip features two highlights from future NFL player Jacob Tamme.

Reporting News on 9/11

The day of the September 11 terror attacks, John volunteered for news duty at WTVQ, and reported this story about the sudden surge in local gas prices that day.
